Wavy hair is distinct in that it bends, coils, and turns in an 'S' pattern. The hair becomes delicate and frail as a result of the bends and twists. Curly hair also makes it more difficult for natural oils produced by the scalp to circulate through the hair strands, making it drier than straight hair. As a result, some women feel their wavy hair unappealing simply because they are unaware of how to properly care for it.To keep their natural hair looking attractive, women with naturally wavy hair need more effort and unique techniques. If you're one of these lucky wavy-haired ladies, it's time to appreciate your hair's originality and beauty. Here are some tips for keeping your natural hair looking young and fresh:❥ Use the Right Products —Use a minimal bit of shampoo, concentrate on the scalp, and don't shampoo too frequently. Shampooing once or twice a week, depending on how dry or greasy your hair is, is adequate to cleanse it while leaving the natural waves in place. To decrease frizz, look for alcohol and sulfate-free products, and if your hair is excessively dry, skip the shampoo and opt for co-washing instead. It's also crucial to select the proper conditioner for your hair type. When you wash your hair, apply conditioner from the middle to the ends of the strands. Organic wavy to curly hair treatments can work wonders for your wavy hair. ❥ Rinse your hair with cold water — As relaxing as bathing in hot water is, it's not healthy for your wavy locks. To work successfully, use warm water for shampoos and conditioners, but always conclude with a cold-water rinse. It's crucial to close the hair cuticles to keep the conditioner's moisture in. If cold water is an issue, a cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with 1 litre of water can be just as effective in removing dandruff and product build-up from the scalp. ❥ Avoid using a hair dryer- If at all possible avoid using hair dryer, since the heat from the dryer can damage the hair and disrupt the wave patterns. If you must use the dryer, make sure to apply a heat protector, set the machine to low heat, and use a diffuser. ❥ Use the proper comb - Using the wrong comb can lead to hair damage, especially if it is used regularly. To disentangle hair strands, open your fingers and slide them through the hair, then eliminate knots using a wide-toothed comb. Starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots is the best technique to comb your wavy hair. To avoid breakages and retain the wave pattern, avoid brushing your hair and make sure it's completely dry while combing. ❥ Keep heat styling to a minimum - Using a curling iron or straightening tool on your natural hair will damage it and cause frizz. Allowing the hair to air dry improves the health of the hair and brings out the natural waves. A scrunch product (alcohol-free gel is a wavie's best friend!) is a better style alternative than heat styling equipment, but if you must use heat-styling tools, utilise heat-protectant products. To maintain the hair strands bright and hydrated, refine the styling with modest amounts of lightweight oil. ❥ Nourish your hair- Always use hair care products that have nutrients that promote hair health and growth. Deep conditioning and natural hair masks can help protect your hair from the sun's harmful rays while also giving it a healthy sheen. ❥ Trim Regularly – Boost hair health and development by using hair care products that contain nutrients. Deep conditioning and natural hair masks can help protect your hair from the sun's harmful rays while also giving it a healthy shine.

BUJO BUJO or bullet journaling is a method to jot down tasks or ideas using pen and paper. This type of journaling is easy to track and does not require too much time + yields maximum productivity. Here are some easy ways to get started. Step 1: Equipment Most BUJO's that we see online are highly aesthetic, artistic and organized. Remember your BUJO should only serve you. It has to be productive more than pretty. To get started all you need is a notebook (ruled, unruled, dotted is your preference) and writing tools (pencils, ball point pens, gel pens again are your preference). Make sure your notebook is big enough to contain all your content. You can also buy a planner to get started, but we advise to start with a simple notebook. It won't be restrictive and will give you more space to work with. Step 2: Index This will be your reference to find specific sections or pages in your BUJO without having to manually browse the entire journal. Write page numbers at the top/ bottom of each page and update your index by month's end. Step 3: Logs This is where you pen down tasks and projects that you are working on. This also serves as a roadmap for future goals. The three types of logs a BUJO typically has are: 1. Future Log- things that don't require immediate attention and can be done over a period of time. 2. Monthly Log- this is where you write down things you want to do over the month or highlight specific events. 3. Daily Log- this will include your daily to-do lists, meetings, reminders etc. Step 4: Add Signifiers This will help you differentiate between tasks. These are some common signifiers used in BUJO. A bullet for list of tasks (.) A circle for events (o) A dash for notes (-) A star for high priority tasks (*) Step 5: Notes Typically kept towards the end of your notebook since they don't change often. It could be reminders like "No Buy" or "Books you want to read" etc Step 6: Customize & Have Fun BUJO should not be a task, although initially it may feel like one. Remember its a physical tracker that helps you note down and plan your day/month so you can have mental space to be more productive. Step 7: Make Time Take out 10-15 minutes at the end of the day to cross of tasks from your daily or monthly lists. Update your plans for the next day or cross out items that are no longer required. What are your thoughts on BUJO? Is it something you will be trying out for yourself? Picture Credits: Wellella & Bullet Journal

Dinacharya in Ayurveda plays an important role – dina means ‘day’ and charya means ‘to follow a routine.’ It is a discipline to balance the body, mind, and spirit. According to Ayurveda, certain rituals performed in the morning make for a positive start to the day. They help us maintain high energy levels and keep the mind and body cleansed, improving the appearance of our health. Performing Dinacharya each morning clears out the accumulated Ama, or toxins from the night, nurtures the body, stimulates the energetic systems, and helps us kick start the day. The result: improved health and appearance of hair, skin, and nails to radiate our natural beauty from within. Here’s what you should do:1. A golden rule: wake before sunrise, the time when positive energy is at its peak. If you have slept well, you will wake to feel peaceful, rested, and ready to jump into the day. Waking early is generally easier for a Vata person than for a Kapha person, but practice makes perfect for all Doshas. At first, the idea of some extra zzz’s may be appealing, but after adhering to the discipline of early rising, the body will adjust as it attunes to the benefits – your mind & body will feel inspired to stick with it! 2. Cleanse your bladder and digestive system to eliminate the nightly built-up toxins. It is true: not all of us can achieve a healthy bowel movement immediately in the morning. Try having a warm glass of water with some honey and a squeeze of lime. This normally triggers the urge to eliminate. 3. Do not drink or eat without brushing your teeth and cleaning your tongue. During sleep, bacteria and other toxins accumulate to be ingested – this generates the “bad taste” or “morning breath” we may feel or observe in others. A thorough brushing of the teeth needs to be rounded off with a cleansing of the tongue with a tongue scraper. Use a copper one if you can, though any metal will suffice. Tongue scraping removes all the Ama from the tongue and awakens the Agni, or fire to help digestion. This step towards elimination is easy to neglect, but don’t let its simplicity fool you. 4. A good morning exercise regimen is essential A gentle pranayama session, a good, long walk, and some yoga asana set you right for the day to come. Ideally throughout the exercise time, focus on your breathing. If possible, spend additional quiet time meditating. The exercises will invigorate you, while the focus on breath and meditation will simultaneously calm your mind and energize it. You may wish to do your exercise after the following steps – do what suits your needs and schedule (just don’t eat prior to exercising). 5. Exfoliate and invigorate with dry brushing Using a hard, dry brush, begin with your toes and, in circular motions, sweep the body – feet, legs, abdomen, back (where you can reach), chest, and neck. Dry brushing eliminates dead skin cells, encouraging new cell growth and improving the texture and appearance of the skin. Consistent dry brushing can also assist with ingrown hairs and cellulite. Its benefits are not limited to the skin surface: it also stimulates blood circulation and cleansing of the lymphatic system, which makes it a perfect ritual for morning invigoration. 6. Self-massage or abhyanga with oils suited to your dosha This does not have to be a time-consuming process. A regular practice of self-abhyanga, or oil massage, in conjunction with at least one monthly synchronized abhyanga therapy by qualified Panchakarma Technicians, is recommended. At home, you can perform self-abhyanga each morning after your skin is prepped by your dry brush and ready to receive the oil’s hydrating nourishment. Warm your oil and gently, but firmly, massage your body, paying extra attention to the soles of your feet. The soles contain all the nerve endings and important marma points, or conjunctions of life force energy. Abhyanga nourishes the body, firms the muscles, calms the nerves, improves circulation, and assists in the elimination of toxins. Try it – you are sure to love the effects! 7. Follow up with a warm shower using a mild, natural soap Be mindful of letting go of any lingering toxic thoughts, feelings, or other hindrances that would otherwise set you back. Visualize them flowing down the drain, leaving you clear and uplifted. This should set you up for your day! 8. Eat a light, healthy breakfast According to Ayurveda, no single meal is the most important of the day – all meals consumed at the right times are crucial for balancing Agni. A light and healthy breakfast between 6-8 am will awaken your Agni and help you step into your day confidently, fit and happy! (References: Absolute Beauty by Pratima Raichur, Kerela Ayurveda)
